They killed the leader of MRTA, Nestor Cerpa Cartolini, one important step. The people and the international press were nervous and waiting for an answer, then, in the roof, the militars were seeing celebrating and taking out all the MRTA flags of the site. It was hapiness and joy. The militars only suffer two deaths and about the hostages, one death. About one of the militars called Juan Valer, trying to protect Tudela, "He shielded him with his body, for which he received a bullet in the neck over the bulletproof vest, and another in the liver, and he collapsed lifeless." Giampetri recounted in his memoirs published in 2012.
