Even fnished this time, other activites were realized in the VRAEM zone, including a victory for part of the Peruvian Military against terrorists. So, we are going to talk about 3 important victories (OPERATIONS) that happened at today, we remember as a symbol of pride.

OPERATION VICTORIA (SEPTEMBER 12TH, 1992)

The so-called "Operation Victory" dates back to March 1990, 32 years ago, in which two important figures for the capture of the Senderista leader began with the investigation and follow-up of leads to find the whereabouts of the greatest genocide in Peruvian history. .

Ana Cecilia Garzón “Gaviota” and Julio Becerra “Ardilla”, GEIN special agents, were in the Surquillo district, on the trail of Abimael Guzmán. At 04:00 p.m. They were located in a store on the 4 block of Varsovia Street waiting to enter the home of the hikers Carlos Incháustegui and Maritza Garrido Lecca.
They waited for about 4 hours for the next movements of the terrorists in that house.

At 8:00 p.m., the agents observed movement inside the building and quickly acted and intervened with the terrorists. The other GEIN agents did the same and approached the house.
"Ardilla" entered the house on Varsovia street and found a woman who tried to hide from her, leading him to the room where she was able to raise her voice and yell at her partners"Positive for Cachetón!"
Abimael Guzmán was captured along with Elena Iparraguirre, Laura Zambrano and María Pantoja, who made up the leadership of the Central Committee of Sedero Luminoso.

OPERATION CHAVIN DE HUANTAR (APRIL 22TH, 1997)

This operation was one of the most succesful in the world thanks to the hability and strategy of the Peruvian Military and their efforts to protect the hostages at all cost.

It all started on December 17, 1996, 14 terrorists (12 men and two women) from the Tupac Amaru Revolutionary Movement (MRTA), led by Néstor Cerpa Cartolini, alias 'Evaristo', stormed the residence of the Japanese embassy, where a party had been arranged.

The Peruvian government maintained a negotiation with the terrorist group at the same time that it trained soldiers of the Peruvian Army, and the Peruvian Navy in a replica of the Residence, digging underground tunnels. These tunnels resembled the ancestral temples of the Chavín de Huántar culture.

All the operation started on April 22, 1997, after several unsuccesful negotiations with the terrorist group, At 15:23 a strong explosion started the operation, blowing up the floor of the main hall, where a group of terrorists were playing futsal. 142 commandos burst through this and other approaches, firing their machine guns. All the terrorists were killed during the operation and only one hostage and two militars died in the mission.

OPERATION PATRIOTA (AUGUST 11TH, 2022)

Operation Patriota, carried out between August 11 and 17, represented the largest military offensive in the heart of the Valley of the Apurímac, Ene and Mantaro Rivers (VRAEM) and the hardest blow against Sendero Luminoso in recent years.
Patriota began to take shape in November 2021, when it was determined, thanks to intelligence information obtained through a coordinated effort between the Armed Forces and the National Police, the precise location of the camps of a dissident faction of Sendero Luminoso, calling itself such as the MPCP-MLPMM (Militarized Marxist-Leninist-Maoist Communist Party of Peru), in the area of Vizcatán del Ene (Satipo, Junín).

At first, they postponed the dates of attack, due to the climate and other factors that involved the situation, but in August 11, their start with missile and bomb attacks to the campaments and then the militars go to the zone and search for all the remainin terrorists. The result was, 25 deaths (Terrorists), lots of wounded and missings and 3 deaths for part of the Military. At that moment, it has not been possible to locate comrade José, reporting by intelligence information and communications monitoring that he is seriously injured and on the run.

Although it is true that it was not possible to capture Víctor Quispe Palomino, comrade José, his command, control and communications system was completely dismantled, neutralizing the ability of the Central Committee to communicate with its political and military commanders, and that of Supply. It was also captured. abundant weapons, ammunition and explosives, as well as communication equipment, computers, hard and USB drives and documentation, including radio communication codes, which were made available to the Public Ministry for the corresponding investigations.

In conclussion, we can say that all this operations were incredible succesful and bring joy to Peru, with an important sign that we can finally be calm after several and terrorific attacks.
